Cook Time: 30 min.
Total Time: 55 min.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (grass-fed, if possible)
½ pound ground organ meats (liver, heart, or a combination)
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon coconut oil or ghee (for cooking)
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
Lettuce leaves (for serving)
Sliced tomatoes, onions, and avocado (optional, for toppings)
Instructions
If you haven't already, ask your butcher to grind the organ meats for you, or you can do it at home with a food processor. A combination of liver and heart works well. Ensure the organ meats are finely ground.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground organ meats, chopped onion, minced garlic, sea salt, black pepper, cumin, and paprika. Mix the ingredients thoroughly, ensuring the organ meats are well incorporated into the beef.
Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Aim for a size that suits your preference.
Heat coconut oil or ghee in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Cooking time may vary based on patty thickness.
Once the burgers are cooked, serve them on a bed of lettuce leaves instead of buns for a Paleo-friendly option. Top with sliced tomatoes, onions, and avocado if desired.
